If someone had told me years ago that a game of racquetball makes me sweat, I might have told them to see a psychologist. Because, I have played (or rather given a shot at) almost all the games, I know of. But, after doing so on a pleasant Thursday, I can tell you . . . it was worth something to me.
I was in college early on Thursday to meet my friend for project. But as expected, we couldn’t meet. And so I sat with my other four friends and started off with the Homework, which was due for the 7o’ clock class. To our surprise, the HW was very short that we completed the HW by 4:30pm. Here comes the question of what useful thing(s) can be done during the 3 hour gap. Our long-awaited visit to the Field House was at the top of our mind. And this idea was nothing short of fantastic. I consider my first-time experience as racquetball’s version of a Fantasy Camp. Not only did I learn more than I could possibly put into practice, but I simply had a great time “hanging out” with a couple of my friends and a folk who loves this game.
I felt like I got a chance to play the Number One player in the world and score a point. Just one point, mind you… And, I wish I had a videotape to relieve the moment for years!!!
After 15 minutes, I had learnt the rules of the game and was all set for my first serve. It was a bad serve. It landed right inside the line. Nevertheless I learnt a new art, and hope to be a master of it one day. Those memories and the extra points I will now be scoring in future matches (hopefully) did, indeed, make all the time and effort worth it.
